I turned my amp on for the first time with no tubes in it. I get the following voltage readings:
Green wires at indicator light: 3.0V AC
Black wires at indicator light: 3.0V AC
5Y3 socket:
Pin 8: 0V
Pin 2: 3.2V (should this be 5.0V?)
Pin 4: 362V
Pin 6: 362V
Heater wires at all connection points: 3.0V AC
Connections at power switch: 20.4V AC
Connections at both points of fuse: 20.4V AC
Does the above all seem ok? Next the instructions say to plug in
bitlife the rectifier tube and test all the plate voltages at the tube sockets. The 5Y3 lights up nicely, but I have no idea where the plate voltages are, and on which sockets? Where should I be measuring?
With the rectifier tube in only, stand -by switch on, I now get 496V DC at pin 2, and still 496V DC at pin 8. Also with 5Y3 in, and stand-by on I get 496V at the stand-by switch. I assume it's higher than 400V as there is no preamp or main tubes installed.
Any feedback appreciated. Thanks. Keith
