Hi
I started to build a 18 watt TMB from scratch. And I mean,
scratch.
I have been building RF amps from 144 MHz up to 10 GHz. However this was a long time a go.
I recently re-discovered my '74 Strat imitation which was demolised by a remote family member....
Put on new strings, had it detonised (?) and it plays like hell again. I bought some 15 watt Peavey transistor amp from e-bay including a V-amp stompbox. Mm it sounded nice but I shure missed the tube sound and the glowing from the old days.
Traveling through internet I saw there was a whole live going on regarding these tube amps.
So I went to my attick, opent my boxes of Pandora and found some trannies next to a few 4cx250B's an QQE640. I even bougt a few trannies from e-bay.
At first I wanted to build the renagade with two El34, but than 50 watt would be a little bit to much for in house practis
So I started the 18 watt TMB. Chassis was made last Friday last night I bolted on the PT, wired the EZ81 and the first cap and yes we ve got 400 volts DC! a bit to much but I dont worry for now.
Unfortunately no pics yet available.
I will keep you posted.
Grtz
