Congratulations Andrew!!!

I found this amp (the Triwatt) very nice to work on, and nothing was hard to get to in terms of soldering. I did appreciate the fact I wired in the socket heater wires BEFORE the board went in, as suggested in the manual.
I also like to partially wire up the pots and input jacks before fitting the board in. BTW, I also shorten the shaft of the speaker impedance selector, so that the selector knob doesn't stick out too far.

This thing is CLEAN ad CLEAR. Yet very strong.
That is particularly true with KT66s, especially if using a 12AT7 in the PI. BTW are you using a 12AT7 or a 12AX7 in there at the moment? With 6V6s you get a lot more breakup from around mid-way on the MV, which is how I like it.

The only thing I had happen that might be an issue is that when the overdrive is pulled out (which sounds great by the way) and gradually turned up, about between two and 3 oclock I start to get a squeal. Maybe we can figure this one out? Or is it a characteristic of the amp when trying to dial in too much gain?
That's not anything we've ever seen. I suspect you may need to work on the lead dress a bit - maybe start by moving some of the wires around with a chopstick.

I'd be willing to bet the squeal is a combination of the amps voicing, amount of gain, and the pickups in the Ibanez.
That's also a possibility. One I hadn't considered until now....

It looks to me like the top-mounted PT leaves a lot more working space in the chassis. Doesn't look near as busy in there are the 18W or TC-15.
Yes, that's very true, thanks to those nice Hiwatt/Partridge style transformers. We use some that space, as the board is a little longer than an 18W's or TC15's.

Try reversing the OT leads and see if the squeal goes away.
If the OT connections were the wrong way round the amp would have been doing an impression of a ship's fog horn. I know this from personal experience.
