I haven't made anything out of wood since about 30 years ago in high school shop, but I borrowed some tools and gave it ago. It's far from perfect, but perfect from far!

It cost me about 150 CAD and a bunch of borrowed tools. $18 for a 1X8 pine, 50 for a couple of router bits, 50 for finishing primer, stain and gloss and the rest on odds and ends like handle, legs, piping, sandpaper peavy rubber feet, ampex bonedog handle.

I did the finger joints with a router and a jig thanks to the power of youtube demos. I used a large chop saw for the cuts and a scroll saw to cut the windows. I did all the sanding by hand, but I would buy an orbital sander before I did that again.

I screwed up the front panel on my first try with a hand jigsaw that ended up cutting on an angle so I found an old piece of pine laying around and re-cut it with a scroll saw to much better results and the wood there is a darker colour which looks good.

I screwed up the bottom window on the back panel - I made it about 1/4 inch too high. Measure twice and cut once, but next time do both measures before the cut! Close enough.

I finished it with oil based products - primer/sealer then 'golden oak' to make it look aged and then 3 coats of super gloss by brush. I used oil because I read it deals with heat better.

There's some chips and a few little gaps and things like that, but at the end of the day I'm super happy with the cab and the amp itself. It was a great experience. Next spring I'm going to build a matching 1X12 cab for it to sit on (it's winter now and my work shop is the back yard).

Excuse my cheap tablet camera.
