Hey, swapping out that 500 ohm resistor for a choke in the screen supply is definitely worth experimenting with! I’ve done this on a couple of builds, and it can make a noticeable difference in feel. A choke (say, 4-10H, ~100-200 ohms DCR) will give you less voltage drop compared to the 500 ohm resistor, which means the screen voltage will stay closer to the plate voltage—potentially giving you a bit more headroom and a tighter, punchier response. The resistor adds more sag, which some folks love for that compressed, spongy feel, but a choke smooths out the ripple better and keeps things more stable, especially when you’re pushing the amp hard.
