I just completed building the 5E3 kit. It sounds very nice and is impressively quiet. There's virtually no hiss.

Some of the voltages are a little bit low. Most are less than 10% off, but a couple are ~15% off. What is the expected variability? Everything sounds good, but I just want to make sure I don't damage something.

Here are the measured voltages. I've also attached a copy of the layout that shows the measured voltages.

V1P1: 119.2
V1P3: 1.96
V1P6: 116
V1P8: 1.97
V2P1: 141
V2P3: 1.26
V2P6: 174.7
V2P7: 20.4
V2P8: 48.2
V3P3: 357
V3P4: 320
V3P8: 20.7
V4P3: 357
V4P4: 319
V4P8: 20.8

Thanks!

If the voltages you list are your voltages, then you don't have anything to worry about. Those are better than one would expect. Some of those are exact to the layout. And if the amp sounds good and performing well, then no worries.

Always check your mains (wall) voltage when doing these measurements, as a slight fluctuation in wall voltage, even if only a couple of VAC, can cause a larger difference on the secondary and everything else on the amp. My wall voltage fluctuates when my HVAC kicks on and off, and if I'm doing measurements when this happens it will throw things a little off.

Anyways, a difference of 10-15% is perfectly fine and well within expectation.

Yes, those are my voltages. I wasn't too worried, but I haven't done anything like this before, so I wanted to be sure. It's good to have confirmation.

It was a great project. Very fun and educational. I have a superb sounding amp out of the deal too! I'm looking forward to the next one now.

Thanks for the willingness to help.

that's what I said after I built my Tramp. I'm on amp #7 now! :)

check out one of the 18 watters....great amp, straightforward build, and then you can choose between Fender or Marshall.
