After getting everything put together, was checking components and when I checked the inputs the meter indicated continuity to the chassis on both of the Bright inputs but none on the Normal inputs (except when testing ground connection on Normal). All 3 Bright connections for each jack (ground, hot and switch) indicate continuity. Have switchrd the fiber washers around and removed/isolated jacks from chassis. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

May have this figured out, but it involves removing the board. What a MPITA.

Pulled board to see if there was any contact points with chassis. Everything was clear. So, if anyone is out there :hmmm: could you please advise why there was continuity (Hot and Switch tabs) on the Bright jacks and NOT the Normal. Have checked jumpers from pics and rechecked since I pulled the board. Have rechecked wiring for jacks. Have installed and reinstalled fiber washers. Can anyone advise me whether or not this is normal.

Can you post a good picture? With isolated jacks and with no plug inserted, tip should be grounded. Only when a plug is inserted should you get continuity from tip to the 68K grid resistor. Both channels should behave the same way.

Stephen, disconnected the the star ground from chassis and there is NO continuity signal from Bright jacks now. I don't understand why there was no continuity on the Normal jacks, but there was on the Bright. Ground loop, maybe?

Is it safe to put it back together?

With the ground disconnected, does it behave the same way? The channels are independent and should both work the same way if they are wired the same way.

Both act the same with chassis ground removed

Then they should act the same way when tied to ground. Put a jumper from chassis ground to the ground pont and what happens?

OK. All jacks installed in chassis. Both Bright and Normal jacks (tip; hot, switch and ground lugs) test the same when chassis ground from jacks are removed; continuity from chassis to ground lugs ONLY. With chassis ground attached (ground closest to jacks), Normal jacks test with continuity from ground lug to chassis only, but Bright jacks (tip; hot, switch and ground lugs) indicate continuity to chassis. (Was checking to make sure jacks were still isolated from chassis).

Found the problem. Bad solder joint on Switch lug of Normal-Hi jack. See picture in previous post.Thought I had corrected it , but have been concentrating on Bright jacks. Now, all jacks test the the same (grounded and ungrounded). Now for the scary part-VOLTAGES. Thanks for your patience. Hank S.

It was way too much fun! And it sounds great.
