Hey hey, as promised some quick demos recorded at home. For some context, you can read the threads I have spammed the forum with here: My early impressions on the kit, Build Pics

Guitar is Mahogany/Maple cap semi-hollow with Lollar Imperial PAF pickups. I used coil taps in parts of these recordings, should be pretty obvious where. Recorded using Audacity. Loudspeaker is Scumback H75. Mic was AT2035 condenser with 10dB pad in...

The Boys are Back in Town, Thin Lizzy:
The guitar volume is down around 7 for rhythm and 10 for lead, plugged straight into the amp. This time I used a hi quality looper... (dittox2) to loop the dry guitar into the amps, so there is no variation in the guitar playing. I then recorded 4 mono tracks... normal (hi input) & tmb (hi input), for both EL84 and 6V6. Normal channel panned 70% Left, and TMB Channel panned 70% Right. First mp3 is the EL84s and 2nd is the 6V6s. No additional post processing whatsoever this is straight from the mic, warts and all... and please this is not about my sloppy playing... I'm too lazy to warm up, and 'amp cranked' time is scarse at home... lol

Amp settings:

Audio File bbit_el84_take2
Audio File bbit_6v6_take2

So you can hear a slight difference. But with the EQ on the tmb side pretty much flat, there's lots of tweakability available

This is Our God, Hillsong:
Also a clip with a different style to show something else this amp can do well. Amp set a bit quieter/cleaner, using a Nova Delay. Guitar Volume is set around 6 for jangly rhythm stuff, and to 10 for lead. The hiss is the sound of the amp, thanks to the Carbon Comp resistors I should think. I don't mind the hiss so much, now that I'm used to it. Once again, no post processing whatsoever this is straight from the mic, warts and all.

Thanks for the comment dtp. :)
I'm a noob at recording, these clips don't give the amp justice tbh.
Difference is subtle tho huh? I wanna try a greenback next, not sure if heritage or regular tho

Corey, thanks for posting the clips. I think it shows off the amps capabilities pretty well. The intersting in the clean clips. Well done.

Thanks Stephen... I actually just re-did a couple of clips today to upload... and saw your reply :)

I have edited the original post, and replaced the download links. I'm not a recording expert, but the new tracks are probably a little better at showing off the amp... using only one mic and a looper pedal... I will also redo some more cleaner stuff in time, too. I love this amp!!!! :D

I can hear the difference between the two. Nice to have that on tap when you want it!

Yep... I'm definitely going to rewire my 18 watter for 6V6's... gotta love em.

You've got a real nice amp there. Sounds great!

That sounded great. The amp takes ODs very well. You're getting lots of different tones.

My 6V6 18W plexi also really likes a Klon driving it. Right now the amp is being played by a friend who is running a Gretsch hollowbody (forget the exact model) a Dr. Scientist Reverb and a Klon(e) I built into the amp, sounds heavenly!

Thanks kurtlives!

I do like the klon(e)... Just a great solo booster pedal... must be those unicorn tears in the magic diodes ;)
So you built those circuits into the 18w? Cool idea!

Yeah the Klon(e) works great as a dirty boost. I don't think it works very well when the gain is maxed.

Meant to say that is the signal chain and the Klon(e) is one I built.

I use two Klon-clones on my pedalboard. I use one for a boost and the other for overdrive. Mine are the EH Soul Food pedals. Amazing pedal and VERY inexpensive! What I like about them is that they allow my guitar to still sound like my guitar... very transparent.

And Klon's are made with Centaur tears, not Unicorn tears!

Lol dtp... Which is why the original like that one are such bargain at $1500 USD... The newer klons only have unicorn tears, correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't Centaurs have become endangered? (Oh dear, the sarcasm   )

Notwithstanding, a great overdrive!

Howdy! Made a demo of my new strat pickups using this amp (Pure Vintage 65s)... youtube link below. Not particularly interesting playing, but for any strat nerds it might be worth a watch.

A pic of the amp settings is attached. Using JJ EL84s this time. :)
