Starting to sound a bit like a scratched CD here, but I like those V30's best again. Looks like I know what my next speaker will be!

I must say, though that I really like the greenbacks with this amp/setting.

I think I'm with you again J-Rock, although with the JTM in general I preferred the Greenbacks (both in the room and in the clip) to the V30s. The V30s are definitely great though, and my assistant Garret liked the Mesa V30 across the board - all the amps and tones.

I also liked the Fanes in the room a lot, although it's not my favourite clip here, and despite the fact the TTs weren't my favourite in the room, I think the clips sounds pretty good (especially the Alnico).

My vote goes to the Greenbacks here though...

Easy for me. For clean, hard to beat the TTA. Rest were like behind curtains IMO.

It's funny, for me my opinion is totally influenced by the order I listen - if I start with the TT's, then yes everything sounds dull by comparison. If I start at the bottom of the list and work my way up, then the TT's sound way too bright... And I guess I have the added (dis)advantage of having heard them in the room to influence my opinion! :?

Well, I built a 212 V30 'low boy' cab today and lbet came over to try it with the new TC15.

Once we got things set up (Ch. 2 gain correct, crunch/munch correct) , there was some very interesting sonic observations made.

The Celestions add a sound of their own. A resonance of some sort that seems to be going on all the time. This may be giving them that fullness we keep talking about. There are additional sonic artefacts that aren't in in the prgram material. I could imagine the cone hitting various resonances as the tone changed. This is the main difference between the Tone Tubbys.

The TT are at the hi-fi end of guitar speakers for sure, nothing added so you just play the instrument, not the speakers as well. A good player, like lbet can play instrument AND gear at the same time and he made the v30s sing..

He then took the 212 and TC-15 away to a gig and the JTM.

Hmm..
Well, I listened to all at least a dozen times (or more) . I have to say I liked the TT ceramic and the Orange V30 the best :D
I thought the clearness and crispness was incredible. :D
I have a DeArmond 1950's AlNiCo acoustic pickup (yes it's real , lol) and the sound from it is amazing. (I use this with my Japanese Fender 12 string).
I really like those 2 sounds. They just jumped out at me.
I kept changing the clips as 2 hear every detail , from all the different speakers  :D
But I kept going back to those 2.
HaHa, my 2 cents :)

Although I 'd like to here them live :D

Purely for clean, I have to agree with Coco...the TT alnicos have a nice open jangly feel. Very sweet. Almost makes them worth the crazy pile of coin...almost...

Next would be the TT ceramics or the V30's - a bit of a compromise on the clean tone, but in a real-world mixed bag of clean & dirt they're quite acceptable. I'm partial to V30's in general, especially with Brit voiced amps. The newer ones seem to have more "cone cry" issues which is unfortunate.

Didn't like the G10's at all - just a mess there. The Fanes are interesting - a very different vibe. Hated the G12T-75's, but that's not a surprise. I absolutely detested them in my old Marshall cab regardless of the amp. I'm a little surprised I didn't like the Greenbacks more, especially since I've heard several 45's running through them & loved it.

Not a fan of the Fender either - might just be because my ears were tainted by the TTA. Definitely not the CL80's - very claustrophobic.

Picked the TTC. As I said in one of the other poll threads, I've played, owned or even seen one of these, yet it got two of my six votes. Same story for the Greenback that got the other four votes.
