Greetings from the land of Cheese, Chocolate and expensive watches!!!

Sorry its rather long for a first posting

After lurking around on the forum for a few, weeks I decided to join. So thanks to Trinity amps for hosting.

I am currently getting the final bits together to build a Lighting (thats how I found the site) but I would also be interested in something with a bit more power, so thought about building something with 4 x EL84 output tubes. This is all just ideas at the moment, as I need to get the Lighting up and running (Third amp build). I have read quite alot of useful information on the site concerning chassis size, layouts, voltages etc, so thanks to everyone who has posted.

I came across a few references to the Matchless John Jorgensson Amp. The price when new was over $3,500 which here in Swizerland would have ment double that!!!

I was wondering if anyone can give me any technical details about the amp?

What I have found out is:

4 x EL84 output tubes (assum it is a standard DC 30 section)
EF 86 for input (assum that it is the DC 30 EF86 preamp section)
But it also has trem and reverb -

Anyone know about the circuit layout or type of reverb and trem circuits?

Form reading the review over on Harmony Central, it is described as "the pinical of the Matchless Sound". I don't know if this is true, or just someone trying to justify $3,500 on an amp  . Anyone have any experience of this amp?

Would appreciate any pointers that anyone could give.

Regards

Kevin

Welcome to the forum!

I have no experience with that model, but the stock DC-30 might be what you're after. You could add in a simple reverb afterwards. Lots of guys have built them into their deisgns after the build was initially done.

We have a forum for 30 W build if you want to start a 30W post going! You could even do a 30W Lightning and skip all the DC-30 frills!
