Hello, I just ordered my Trinity sIII TMB kit last week. I'm anxious to get started. :)

I asked Myles Rose, Musicplayer guitar frum moderator and tone tech to the stars, his suggestions for tubes in an 18W. I thought you might be interested in his suggestions:

Very interesting thread.

We has a discussion on 12AX7s . Check out:

and another at :

Currently using combinations of JJs, Shuguang, some EH but phasing them out and Russian EL84Ms for builds.

I ordered the Tesla EL84s and an RCA power rectifier. I'll save up a bit before getting the 12AX7s, but I'm leaning towards following his suggestions. I'll build the amp using the Sovtecs that came with my Blues Junior so that I don't melt any $75 tubes.

You'd do prety well with Shuguang and JJ. Not expensive either. I'm not a big fan of the Sovtek.

Yeah, the Sovtecs are just for construction. If I melt one as I'm getting the amp up and running, it just gives me an excuse to replace the crummy stock tubes in my Blues Junior.

He later recommends the balanced RFT for V3, since it's the phase inverter.

That's definitely a place to use a matched tube. Save the 'juicy ones' for the front end.
