I'm to the turret board part of an 18w kit build. The instructions say that I need a long ground buss of solid 20 awg. My kit came with a bag of wire but not that. The kit does have some solid 22 awg and I have more of that from various pedal builds. Can I use 22 or do I need to buck up and find some 20?

My local Fry's had 18 gauge solid copper. The other solid wire I have used is not copper in color, not sure if that means it's copper and tinned, or if the material itself is different. I can't think of reason why 18 gauge solid copper wouldn't work for the ground buss and under-board jumpers.

Solid 18-gauge copper wire will be fine. It's just harder to wrap it around the turrets or put it inside the turret holes than 20-gauge.

The thicker the ground bus, the better. Sometimes I use the 14-gauge copper wire from the AC wiring used in houses.

I went with the 18 gauge copper and it wasn't very hard to work with. I didn't think of checking my stash of romex for something small enough to use.

I used some 18 gauge solid core that I stripped from a piece of leftover home thermostat wire. Worked great.
