Hi everyone,

My Trinity TMB-MV is my first amp with a tube rectifier. How long does the EZ81 typically last? How will I know when it needs to be replaced? I know the lifespan and tell tale signs when a preamp or power amp tube needs to be replaced. Does the EZ81 have any affect on the overall tone, I mean if I replace it with a different brand or another type of tube (don't know if that's possible) will it change the sound? Lastly, has anyone tried one of those solid-state replacements for tube rectifiers?

Wow, a lot of questions! I've researched this a bit on other sites but I wanted to run it past my fellow Trinity owners and get your advice and opinions.

Thanks in advance as always!

Each rectifier is made a little differently and has a little different internal resistance, etc. So there can be subtle tonal differences between them. Rectifiers seem to last a long time if you treat them well. I have a '66 Deluxe Reverb with a Ken-Rad rectifier from who knows when in there. I've owned the amp for 17 years and never changed it. Also, rectifier tubes either work or they don't, so it is pretty obvious when they need to be replaced.
