Hi all just a quick report on my sIII. I installed a VRM over the weekend kind of a hassle as I have a combo and it was a little tight getting it in. Cranked it up and I was pretty amazed continuous variable volume control. You can get pretty good crunch and sustain down to some real low levels doesn’t sound as flabby as most master volumes’ do. I do have some scratchy current on my guitar pots but it clears up when the amp volumes’ back up to normal and I can live with that the way it is. I haven’t had much time to spend playing it yet and I will get some more info as I test it. Seem to be a great addition to the amp.
Additionally I seem to have gotten my boost to work for the time being. I have tried every and any combination of resistors and caps and tubes always with the same results being a high pitched squeal when it was maxed. I ended up keeping the 25uf cap with a 3.3k resistor and worked my way up to a 2000pf cap across the plate and cathode of V2 anything smaller would not stabilize the squeal. It works now and I can max the gain and volume need to get an empty house to sound test it further. JGK
