Does anybody here know of any decent bass combo amplifiers for under $300 https://waveadvice.com/bass-amps-under-300/ ? One of my friends wants to learn bass and he doesn't know where to start. He already got an old squier P bass for free off of me, but he doesn't have an amp.

Pretty well any amp can do bass to learn on. I bought my daughter a cheap solid state Fender Bass amp to learn on. Less than $300.

I'd recommend an Acoustic. Great value for the money, and I've used an Acoustic on a good number of recordings and got great results, along with letting my bass player borrow it for practices, and he has no problems being heard in a band mix. Great tone as well. Also you can get redirected here and search.
Good luck!

Thanks for the recommendations, I've been looking for an el cheapo amp to practice on my bass guitar when on holidays (I've been recently looking at these Jurmala houses for when I have free time) as not to lose my level, and I don't really want to build a professional level studio there either as I'll spend most of my time elsewhere.

The Acoustic is my preferred choice. Great price for the quality you get; I've used an Acoustic on a number of recordings and been very pleased with the results; I also let my bass player use one for practise, and he has no trouble cutting through the rest of the band's instruments. word wipe

Used a Peavey. You are aware of this. Solid construction, with a few blue volume controls thrown in for good measure. The highest value for the money.
