I emailed hammond...the Power tranny...is this guy...
https://www.hammfg.com/part/272X

while the output is essentially this guy...
https://www.hammfg.com/part/1620

at 20W...i would think i could probably build another Plexi with this iron...unless i am not understanding something...which could be the case...been nuts around here, and this is the first i've had a chance to post since i got Hammonds email last week...
but was also thinking of a tweed...or more apt to be a triwatt inspired Build...(as much as i'd love to build a gainier marshall)

Thoughts? this is doable, no?

Too hot for a EL84 or -6V6 so you need to go to EL34, 6L6 types.
20 watt 6.6K is barely eough for a 6L6 amp that can deliver 30-40 watts.
I suggest our super tweed design same as i did for Bernie O'Connor of kingston.
Fixed bias tweed 5E3 with 6L6. Killer amp!!
i have all the details on it!

Stephen, I heard Bernie's Tweed this winter at Centre Stage in Kingston; all I've got to say is…HOLY CRAPOLY, that amp is in another dimension!

I know. And he loves it. He's been playing it for over a year and keeps rolling tubes through it. It is a super tweed and I have seriously considered making that a bona fide Trinity Amps product.

ezcomes take note!!

Not sure i Follow on the 'barely enough'...

But now saying it could do EL34's...now back thinking marshall territory...

If you go see Simo...we could talk then!

Been working around the house...its just been sitting on my desk...i haven't even taken the tubes out to go get checked...

Barely enough means it is underrated at 20W for a design then can poossibly deliver more than 40 watts.

Interesting

I dont know what i want to do...would love a 2204...or even a 1987x (although I realize that my plexi is essentially just that) ...but a hiwatt would be awesome...and the super tweed isnt a bad idea either

So many ideas

i dont think this one has quite enough power or OT for a 2204 or 1987 or Hiwatt. All those are pretty dependent on the OT and B+ voltage for tone.
Still you could experiment but you do have pretty good Marshall tone right now!
Go Tweed!

Well then...i guess we shall think about the tweed...

When you said it could pull 30-40W...i got antsy for a lower powered amp like what i suggested...

when you get a chance, carefully see see if it can fire up and read the B+ or do you trust it?

I could fire it up...i should make sure the tubes are ok first...then maybe a sheild for me...i dont have a variac...and it most definately hasn been powered up in my lifetime...so...im leary...
I should also make sure they onviously work before i make too many plans...although, i cant see why it wouldnt...all the guts seem in good shape

well, probably the best thing to do is disconnect the PT secondaries and test the AC. Probably the filter caps are dry and it would hum like crazy , might even be a short in there. You wont use any of that stuff anyhow. But I did something similar 10 years ago and the darn thing fired up!!
