I've had more than one request for the .0012 or .0015 Mallory cap. The coupling cap to the 15 Tone stack. Since I'm not in the parts biz, where do you DIYs get these or an equivalent in small quantities?

I know that http://www.justradios.com here in Toronto sells CDE equivalents which are fine and they sell in smaller quantities, but if you're not buying in bulk, then what?

Other DIYs want to know.

Have you tried www.cedist.com ?
You need to be a business to sign up and get pricing.

Yes & they have an alternate to Mallory, but a you said, they sell to dealers/manufacturers. They have a reasonable selection of caps, but not a Mallory 150 .0015.

I had a 1200pF mica cap in my lightning and found it to be part of the reason the amp sounded brittle to me at first. I changed it to a Mallory .001uF and liked the sound much better. Of course, you could run a Mallory .001uF and a 500pF mica cap in parallel to get to .0015uF with a slightly more complex tone (this is something Ken Fischer did a lot in Wrecks). I may do that if I ever open this amp back up.

Try a Mallory 150 .0022 uf in that spot. All the bass you'd ever need, then some.

I really like the idea of paralleling a 500pF (cer or mica) and a .001uF,
but if you reeeeeeally had to have a Mallory M150 .0015uF 600V, Newark can special order them. 4-5wk (but maybe sooner) lead time, $25 min order. At .60@, that's 41 pcs. In fact, if you download the M150 datasheet, Newark can get any of them if you are willing to wait a few weeks.

hope this helps

A good place for 150's in Canada is Electrosonic. Granted they don't carry those specific values, they do have most of the common ones.
