It seems some spammers have started to figure out how to get past the registration process. I have deleted suspect users but if you suspect one, please PM me with the user name of the suspect & we'll investigate.

You get an email from us indicating you have a PM but when you go there, there is no PM.

We're getting about 125 'illegitimate' attempts per day to join the forum. Some still get through but these are mostly humans, not 'bots.

We have had more reports of PMs being sent with NO Message.

So we have temporarily turned off PM capabilities to see if they persist.

Sorry for the hassles folks.

We tried turning on PM again and it looks like there is still a BOT in the machine so PM is off again.

Any PM regarding SPAM are NOT for real. We will look into this again. We recently turned PM back on but looks like we still have a problem.

We have removed the offending user & turned off PM indefinitely. We are also going to review / update the forum.

You probably noticed a lot of spam activity lately. Obviously these idiots have nothing better to do.

We have changed the registration process to experiment with settings and hope that will prevent excessive activity. I cleaned out over 200 of them, not including all the ones I deleted when I noticed them posting.

Of course, it could be that no one can answer the skill testing new registration question, including the SPAMBOTS.

Recently, a lot of spammers posting their crappy goods on the forum. I have set registration to manual until the tidal wave subsides.

The problem with the spammers got so bad we turned registration off until we found a solution to the registration process. We have implemented a new registration feature that is very promising. Hopefully, the spambots will not be able to register on this forum any longer and we will go back to normal again. Since we implemented this, we have had no attempted registrations! :happydance:
