Hello everyone from Northwestern Ontario.

Opened it up, reading over the instructions.

Deciding what configuration I will build. Head & cab, combo?

Likely build a combo.

I have a WGS Blackhawk Alnico speaker coming. I will see how it sounds with that. Speakers I also have to try, Eminence Red White & Blues, Celestion Greenback, Celestion Vintage 30.

We will see what it likes. :D

You picked a good one :!: The head version is a little more difficult because of the tube location as some of the socket locations are under the back edge of the board. If you got the combo version, it's pretty easy to convert, socket mounting screws are tapped and all you have to do is drill the actual socket openings.

Looks good, I can't see it in your final photo, is the blue jumper there between eyelets 3 and 2 on the Bass control? and thanks for the gut shot , always good to see other people's wiring style. Always looking to improve mine :!:

Good eyes.

I just took the pliers & bent pin2 over to touch pin3, so when I soldered the wire on, all in joined together.

I really like the neat way you laid out your wiring! I'm taking notes...
From the pictures, it looks like you've put the fuse on the neutral side of your mains connection, rather than the hot side. If I'm seeing that right, the fuse won't protect you from hot-side shorts upstream of the power transformer.
Does this match what you see in person?

You made me double check things, but it was correct.

The lettering is on the end of the input cable.

KT 88 works well in the Tramp, but you'll have to remove the supplied tube retainer clip (tube base too large), if you haven't already discovered that :(

Put the 7581 in this evening. Changed the bias switches to 5k & Hi. Sounded great.

Cranked it to the max, it was screaming real nice, then started cutting out, saw a slight bit of the dreaded smoke from the Power tube area, then dead.
Checked the fuse, blown. Replaced & put the tube back in. Glows with a little bit of lightning inside.
No sound.

Bad tube?

Scott, all I can suggest is to check the bias and load switches, particularly the load switch. There have been some problems reported with them arcing on the Tramps and at least one OSD (may have happened on another, but I can't recall which it was). Seems as if it usually happened during cranked up conditions. If it arced, may have taken out the power tube. Just spitballing, may be something else entirely. :hmmm:

I switched to the EL34, changed the bias & load switch.

Lights on, tubes glow, but nothing.

:(

Check all the voltages, especially at the output tube.

I was following the voltage, & before the 5k - 100ohm, 460VDC, but nothing after.

Could it have failed?

So then nothing would be getting to the VRM.

The resistor could have failed. Does it still measure 100 ohms? It could also be a bad connection to the jumper that goes to the Mosfet.
