Just curious if it is save to try some NOS 6V6's in the Tramp. I heard that some Champ variants run a hot bias on the 6V6 and may damage NOS tubes. Just want to make sure before I try.

Thanks in advance.

The Tramp runs 6V6s at no more than their safe-rated maximum dissipation of 14W. However, also be aware that it runs them at up to 420V with the VVR/VRM turned all the way up. This is also no problem with most NOS tubes. However, I might hesitate to try the real old style "coke bottle" or metal-can 6V6s in a Tramp.

I figured since it only has 2 tubes it is a prime candidate for trying some premium NOS tubes without breaking the bank.

I've got one of these on order:

Bendix 5992 "Red Bank" 1950's

Probably going to pair it up with a NOS RCA 12AX7

Should be a rockin' robin! You might keep a watch on the tube and may want to turn the VRM down if you think it's a little too hot.

Thanks. I like the VRM around 7 anyway so it should be safe.
