Power / Level control – Rotary ON-OFF switch with 1M control for VRM*.
Actions: Off – On (low level is standby. Turning control further effects the VRM control and the power level of the amp (power level control).
*VRM– components mounted on eyelet board. MOSFET mounted immediately beside board & leads soldered in directly.

Volume control – to adjust amount of volume and overdrive. The Tramp able to go from Clean to Dirty. The Tramp plays like a vintage Tweed Champ/Princeton when in Tweed mode. When played this way, the Master Volume would be on max, and then the Volume control becomes the amp's Volume control. Incorporates a push/pull Tweed / 'tude switch for Clean / Tweed // Dirty / Marshall range

Tone Controls:
Bass – Cut/Boost. Incorporates a push/pull Thin/ Fat switch for enhanced voicing

Treble - Cut/Boost

Two kits on order:!:
The withdrawal symptoms are getting to me, must build

Listened to Bgroups tracks and that is a killer sound so I want a 6L6 version and my fav tube, a KT66 version. Really want to try a 5D3 mic input on this as well.

But the most important part is the kid wants to learn how to build amps, cabs and other stuff. Wehoo hes not going to be just a drummer forever

Stephen, just a small thing...
I would consider maybe a bicolor LED for the pilot when running it AC. This would give you a less "anemic" pilot and would protect the LED in the off cycles. I have a bunch of red/green push-in LED's with 6" pigtails, or discrete bicolor LED's if you need some. This should give you a yellow pilot, not my favorite color but they're free :D
Let me know...

Or how about if we use a high-intensity red LED with a series protection diode. Then you won't need to have an anaemic yellow either. :)

We haven't worked out the bias requirements for a KT66, but it's definitely supported. You may just need to experiment a little with the bias resistor value on the cathode. In 'tude mode, you'll get a nice hint of JTM45. :D

I generally try to protect AC driven LED's from potential reverse overs with either a diode or a second LED reverse biased in parallel with the LED. Bicolor LED's are a convenient solution, except for the color (IMO).

Just thinking...

Interesting. Thanks for looking it over. I hadnt really thought of it. No problems yet with it. A diode does not add much cost.

For anyone interested, this article explains things way better than I can...
http://www.gizmology.net/LEDs.htm

Scroll to "Driving LED's With AC" at the bottom. Can you tell that I love LED's??

Yes, I generally prefer to do that as well. However, I haven't yet come across, nor heard of any cases of LEDs being blown when connected across a 6.3VAC heater supply without the extra diode or LED. Still it never hurts to play safe. :)

Hi
I'm interested in what a Tramp sounds like. So far I have not been able to find and any sound bites here or at youtube.
Can someone point the "new guy" in the right direction?
Thanks,
Marc

You can find a whole lot of them here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2046

Although there are some other threads with some clips as well.

Just ordered my kit and unfinished cab based on the sounds clips posted above and all the excellent feedback from current owners...exactly the kind of amp I'm looking for.

How long is the wait for a Tramp kit? Will it ship right away?

Unfortunately, those no longer work :( However, there is a nice set of clips played by pro guitarist Lawrence Bethune, in the Clippage forum - viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2307

I must have deleted these with the last hacker, hacked. I'll try to locate them.

I am considering ordering a Tramp combo kit (will be my first amp build) and would like to know... is there is a Tramp combo cabinet which will accommodate a 12" speaker?

Yes you can fit a 12" in the standard Tramp combo cab. When ordering ask for a baffle sized for a 12" speaker.

Kurt... Thanks for the info.

Any idea if the kits are shipping immediately, or is there a wait time?
