So I’m getting ready to hookup the OT input wires and there is 2 sets to choose from. What is the difference between the 8K and the 3.5K (HIWATT spec).
Thanks Mark

Piggybacking on Mark's question -
What is the appropriate method of tying off the leads that are NOT used?

Mark, your Triwatt is starting to look really good!

To put it simply, 8k or 3.5k is the impedance the output tubes will see reflected back from the speaker. 8k is good for 6V6 tubes. 3.5k is better for tubes like EL34, which the original Hiwatts used. The builder's guide says to use the 8k wires, so go with those unless you plan to use output tubes other than 6V6 or KT66.

The unused wires from the primary should have their ends capped with heat shrink tubing, then they can be coiled up out of the way or tied to the other wires from the primary. It's best not to cut them in case they have to be used in the future.

Ah ha got it. I have stoed them just in case I want to use EL34 tubes. But for now the KT66 are in.
