Good day all,

Starting a new build.

Some quick questions:

For the board, I was planning to use 300VHU 20GA RoHS and go under the board and thru the turret... but I've seen other post where they are going over the board with what's look like the provided wire...

What is my best option ? Pros & Cons

Thanks

Under the board looks neater, but it can be harder to trace where the wires go if you have to troubleshoot after the board is installed.

With over the board wiring you can attach the wires after the board is installed. If the wires are under the board, you have to attach them before the board is installed and make sure they are long enough to get to their destinations.

Under the board is usually how Hiwatt did it.

I would use solid 20 gauge wire rated for 600 volts. For safety, all wire in a chassis should be rated for the highest voltage in the circuit, even if it only carries a few volts. Some wires in a Triwatt carry around 450 volts.

Bonne chance avec votre construction!

Thanks, I'll try to find 20G wire 600V... any reliable sources?

I take it you don't have the kit because then all the wire you need would be supplied.

DigiKey is a good source, but you have to buy it in 100' rolls.

They have lots of colors available.

If you look around on line you can probably find 20 gauge solid 600 volt wire in shorter lengths. It's best to use several colors so it's easier to trace the wires.

You can use 22 gauge if you have to, and I find it easier to deal with for the heaters.
