hi - I tried searching the board but just seems to be questions about polarity between pre-amp and power amp sections.

i just got a kit, doing the build and the rev. 1.6 layout shows the heater polarity switching between V2 and V3? I've always thought you kept the polarity consistent

any reason for this?

I needed some clarification when I did my build. If you check out my "heater wiring" post on page two, you'll see a photo. Just follow that if you like. it worked for me. Good luck. :D

It doesn't actually matter for 12AX7 if the polarity reverses as they are "hum bucking" but you are right, you shouldn't do it. It's bad practice.

I guess 1.6 is the newest layout rev?
If you follow 1.5 as found in the resource section the polarity is fine

Okay so now I have everything wired up, and went to check the heaters for continuity with the bulb out .. and.. I've got continuity across the two heater wires (green - green... right?). So I disconnected them from the pilot lamp just to make sure I have it right, and I still have continuity across the two green leads.
where can I go from here?

resistance between them is 0.002ohm .. continuity to ground. I disconnected centre tap from ground and there's still continuity across it but not to ground

Very little resistance in the winding. That is normal.

the guide says I couldn't be seeing a short between them though, and I can detect continuity across the two heater secondaries with my multimeter - seems odd?
