Hi,

Just finished wiring up my Triwatt build this evening. I don't have any tubes (and probably won't for a couple of weeks) - is it safe to perform the 1 second pilot lamp test at this point without tubes - plug amp in, flip the switch to standby for 1 second to check lamp comes on, then immediately back to off again?

Yes

That is fine, you can do that and more but stick with the pilot lamp test for now.

First test looks good- the lamp came on without any surprises occurring.

After having done this 1 second lamp test (switch to standby only then off again), do I need to worry about caps having stored lethal voltages from this test if I need to poke around in there still?

As long as you installed the 220k (bleeder) resistors on the cap cans the caps will discharge.
