There seems to be a difference between the Triwatt Layout, and the Builder's Guide Photo (Top of Page 26) on which direction the .001uf Cap on the Middle Pot goes? Does it matter?

I looked at layouts for other Hiwatt Style Amps and they seem to agree with the Layout and not the Photo. (But they are not Triwatts.)

The outer foil end of C8 should point towards the Bass pot, and the two 47n caps. My builder's guide doesn't have the photo on page 26, but what you're saying suggests that I made an error when I built the prototype Triwatt, which those pictures came from. However, when I tested the 1nF Mallory caps with a 'scope, it was almost impossible to tell which lead connected to the outer foil, as the noise levels were almost exactly the same both ways round. So it ultimately makes virtually no audible difference in the case of this cap, and the other 1nF caps. With larger value Mallory caps, it was much easier to find the outer foil.
