So a trick here might be to get a pair of needle nose pliers, and grind the inside faces so they are 1.5 - 2 diameter of the wire?

Certainly knocking off the inner sharp edges of your pliers with a fine file followed by a polishing with some emery cloth would go a long way in saving your wires. A better and more flexible choice would be a pair of round nose jeweler's pliers. Then you can just position the wire to be formed at the radius that you want and go. I've seen them pretty cheap at craft stores.

That's exactly what I have used in the past when dealing with heavy gauge wire - a nail with a decent-sized radius.

The only difference would be that the "real" harness board nails will generally have nice rounded tops instead of a brad head or a cut off head. This would be much easier on the hands, especially if you sit and do this for 8 hours a day. Don't get me started

I've seen the nail board method used quite a lot for making wiring looms, coincidentally, when I was working at a place only about a stone's throw away from where many Hiwatt amplifiers were built in times past. But I'm just using round nose pliers for this job. However, like I said, it's virtually impossible to do right-angle bends with the wire used for Triwatts, with its thick heavy-duty (660V rated) insulation. The original Hiwatts were built with much thinner wire.

Phil, how are things going with the amp build? You do know that you're not immune to posting pictures of the factory builds.
Seriously, some build shots from a pro could be very helpful for new and seasoned builders :D

The first one's going pretty well. I've got most the stuff in the chassis wired - ie pots, sockets, heater wiring, transformers, switches, power supply, etc. I'm taking my time, keeping everything neat and clean, and marking comments on the build docs as I go, for Stephen to incorporate in the next revision of the docs. I've sent Stephen a few shots, but not got around to posting any here yet, which I realise is very amiss of me! I'll have to see what I can do...

When are we going to see any pictures of the "official" Trinity builds of the Triwatt :?: :?: :?:

I'm interested in seeing how the wiring runs look when they have a couple of Triwatts under their belts and have had some practice. :D

Gut shot of #3 almost completed, and before installation of the relay board at the back for the footswitch. The flying twisted wires from the pull switch go to the relay board. There's also a temporary 100k resistor tacked on to V2 Pin 2, connected via shielded wire to the wiper of the Overdrive pot, allowing the amp to be tested before installing the relay board. The wiring inside the chassis has been tidied up a little more after this shot was taken.

Just working on the relay board for #2 now, and then the amp will be shipped. #3 is right next. Should be a little quicker, now that I've completed #2 with the new style layout. :D

Lo, Phil and Stephen made the amp and I called it Deuce. I gazed upon Deuce and saw that it was good...

Ok, so I got a bit carried away, but I'm really looking forward to hearing it with my own ears. Great work, fellas!

Actually that's my wiring, with Stephen's excellent layout. You can't beat teamwork! :D
