Some people, not a word :D :D :D :D

Oh, wait; wait; wait;

I burned my 1 finger on a torch; cut another finger on a knife.
I'm sorry, this came as pain.
I realize I'm no longer the steady champ, but, That sucked!!
Maybe some Belden 20 awg Bus Bar would have been nice.
My fingers hurt,

cheers

Is this guy safe near high voltage electricity?

Not any more Phil    :? :?
But see, I was just again sick for a couple days. It's pretty badd. As always.
I'm in my own home, so I'm as safe as I want to be. I'm also at a point where , well, dying no longer bothers me.
And yes I have my reasons.
Some know.

In answer to the burnt fingers. Not a big deal, I get over it.
I always look for the easiest way to do anything. Then maybe it's good enough to pass on. If not, oh well, it was only me!

In answer to Coco. Taking the casing off is what burned me.
I was looking for a faster (more careful, lol I know I go from the rear to the front, lol)
The funny thing is, after all my trials. The Bic lighter is the most simplistic without leaving any score marks on the 20 AWG. Burn the casing every 2 in. and pull. (BE AWARE WHEN YOU PULL, IT WILL BE HOT!!!) My fingers are callused from years of work. So when I burn, well, not to good!!

I'll stop the thread if that's what you want. I have no problem.
Realize, I do what I want, any longer.
I've been waiting for this amp to help me remember. And that's what it's doing. So, good for me.

Tell you what's sad though, having to open up the books again to remember what the "K" in a 1K5 resister is. But at least I open the book 1st!!!

I would however, like to know about the tiny resisters. At 1st glance they look like 1/8 watt. But your BOM is calling out 1 watt? Are they 1 watt? Thanks

Sorry for the bother!
Later

Yes, they are 1W metal films. They keep making them smaller and smaller. I could scarcely believe it myself. There used for all resistors of 100k and higher, for low noise. Elsewhere we use carbon.

The minute I saw them I thought they were 1/8 and of course I wasn't going close to them.
I have 1 watt larger size. Better, Not ? or doesn't matter ? Hmm. Personal preference, I guess ??
What do you think???
Sorry, just looked very odd, ya know

Been looking at CC's for so many years, well, there supposed to be the same size        8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Alright well, I have a 22n and a 1n to put in :D :D :D :D
Later,
oh would like an answer on those larger resister's please.
Thank you
Cheers

Wait, I'm sorry.
Umm, why Carb metal film and not metal film. You really are a staunch supporter of metal film
Thanks
Sorry for so many questions.

Here's the logic behind it all. Higher resistor values generate more noise than lower value ones. And this amp has a whole ton of gain in the preamp, which really amplifies any hiss. So larger resistor values need to be metal film, to keep the noise level down. The general rule of thumb is 100k, but we also used metal film for the 68ks on the inputs, as that's the most noise sensitive spot in the amp. Everyone over here was real surprised when we found that the new 1W metal film resistors were so small. But they're doing a great job keeping the noise level down. :D

Some people say metal film resistors sound sterile. So most other places we used carbon film, which are said to sound warmer, as well as being the usual size you expect 1W resistors to be. :D Then we used a pair of carbon composition resistors in the PI, the one place where they provide the most sweetness, while adding the least noise. So hopefully, we have got the types of resistors optimised best for this amp.

Umm, sorry,
Do you think the larger 1's will hold out better then the smaller 1's.
Sorry again, that's all!!

I LOVE it.
I just got an implement that is more dangerous then the torch I had.
A real torch.
2000 + Nice. Just with butane
All brass fittings, very nice!
Haha, I'll be careful
It's okay Phil, you'll come to understand, well, I'll still be here tomorrow.
Don't ask me????

Oh wait, it burned off the solder perfectly, from a 1962 Fender chassis in 2 sec flat!
No lie!!!!!

If they're both 1W rated, they will hold out the same. Just probably means the smaller ones can run safely at a higher temperature than the big ones. If the larger resistors you have are metal film, then by all means use them. If they're carbon, then I would advise against using them for those particular values, especially if they're carbon comps.
