Hi All,
I am working my way through a 5E3 Tweed kit and am just getting into power transformer wiring of the primary side. I have several wires that I am struggling to identify because they don't seem to match the documentation colour code. The secondary side seems straight forward. I have to identify these:

1. a pair of black wires with no markings
2. a pair of red wires with white stripes,
3. an unmarked orange wire
4. a red with blue stripe wire.

Can you help me match these up to the layout diagram please?
Much appreciated!
Barnzy

The only thing I can suggest is to call Trinity or PM Coco thru the user control panel. There may have been a change in the XFMR or you got sent the wrong XFMR :bugeye: Should be black, white, white w/red tracer, black w/ red tracer for 120VAC and should have black w/white tracer and white w/ black tracer (not used and tied off) that are used for 220VAC. Don't use it until you talk to Coco :!:

Update: Looked thru my file of layout docs and the only two XFMR's that use orange as far as I can tell are the Trip Top and the OSD amps.

Oh boy. I really hope that this isn’t the wrong transformer. I have spent a lot of time wiring it in carefully and methodically. I’ll touch base with Trinity directly and see what is going on here. Thanks Hankules.

Good deal. Figured it was new style or wrong XFMR. Nice that you got a new style XFMR and could continue the build.

To be absolutely sure about the connections, I would recommend checking the documentation or datasheet that came with your specific power transformer kit. The documentation should specify which wires are for the primary and secondary sides and their intended connections in the 5E3 Tweed amplifier circuit.wordle

These are likely the primary center-tap wires. They are usually connected to the power watermelon game switch. One end goes to one side of the power switch, and the other end goes to one side of the fuse.

In a 5E3 power transformer, the color coding of wires can vary depending on the manufacturer.
