It's not all pretty, but for a near-novice, I'm happy. Worked the first time I fired it up, too. Fun way to spend March Break!

I've never owned a tweed Fender before (I have been a blackface/silverface guy for 30 years!). So, I'm not sure how loud these amps are supposed to be... having said that, this amp is so quiet that I think I must have done something wrong. My Princeton Reverb clone is much, much louder than the Tweed Deluxe (and it is, I think, about 18 watts). I know these amps are not about clean headroom, but I am referring to overall volume. I could never gig with this, even in a very modestly powered trio (and I have regularly gigged with the Princeton and blackface Deluxe--which I often have to turn down to around "3").

Any guesses as to what might be causing this?

Just swapped tubes with no change in volume. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, my 5 watt Champ is louder than the Deluxe. That can't be right...

It sounds good, it is just very quiet.

Well... after a long afternoon of re-flowing and re-soldering I realized that I had made a careless mistake. I had reversed pins 3 and 8 on V2--both blue wires, but each soldered to the opposite resistor.

The amp is very loud! Now I'll be wondering how I can tame the volume!

The build looks good. Congratulations getting it done and finding the problem. Yes, these amps are pretty loud when they are working properly!

Thanks, Mitch. Very happy with the whole experience and would definitely recommend Trinity to anyone else considering an amp project. Just as a reference: my previous build (no kit, no cabinet) took me a whole summer--I finished the Trinity Tweed kit in a week!

I posted a positive review on gretschpages.com.
