So I have a single coil guitar (epiphone casino - p90's) and I understand that there is hum with single coils but I have played on other tube amps and the hum has been minimal, it is strange because the hum on the tweed over powers the sound of the guitar. Do I need to shield the amp and/or the guitar???

Sounds like you have a grounding issue with your amp. Post some pics of it.

Could also be a bad cable, dirty power, bad tube, etc.

When the guitar is unplugged from the. amp, does it hum loudly? That will probably tell you if its guitar or amp related.

When the guitar is unplugged the amp does not hum, however I can play with other tube amps with minimal hum with the epiphone casino p90's. The tweed amp did not hum when I played it with the an epiphone dot.

I can minimize the hum to almost nothing if I play the guitar at a certain angle in relation to the amp but it has to be a a very specific angle and any little movement outside of that specific position the hum comes back and overpowers the sound of the guitar.

Sounds like shielding in the amp maybe but certainly its not entirely amp related.

Get some Aluminum Tape from Home Depot, heating ventilation dept. shield the panel covering the rear with that.
