Quick question about the volume controls.

I find when I am using either channel. Both channels are noise free on their own and sound great. When I turn up the unsed channel volume it introduces some hum into the sound.

Is this expected behaviour?

It seems that the normal channel is worse than the bright. When using normal channel and turning up the bright volume I get more of a buzz like a grounding issue. It increases as I turn up the unsed volume and also when I turn up the tone.

I thought it could be the ground somewhere, so I redid all my grounding points, ensured they were all very tight and re-did my input jacks ground.

Is there a way to measure where the grounding issue is?

thanks

Sounds normal

There is noise in both channel. When you turn up the unused channel you are just adding that noise on top of the channel you are plugged into.

The bright channel will be nosier by nature. Our ears are more sensitive to high frequencies and as a result we pick up on them more. The extra high frequencies in the bright channel are creating that "extra" noise.

If you have doubts about you ground connections, read the resistance from each ground point to the actual ground (i.e. chassis). You should get a tiny tiny reading or none at all (0R).

Other than that check your lead dress, improper lead dress is an easy way to pick up unwanted excessive noise. Try "chop sticking" some of the wires.

Thanks for your comments, Kurtlives,

I'm really just trying to find out if this is expected.
