Just finished the tweed deluxe kit. Already having some issues

I'm getting a fuzzy or shhhh sound only on the normal channel. More noticeable when volume is over half way up. The sound is introduced after playing a note. It kinda sounds like a distorted static and overall that channel seems to not have as much volume as the other.

Initially both channels sounded fine and the only problem I had with the amp was being able to hear sound when the volume knobs were all the way off. Then suddenly the knobs started behaving normal and now I have this new problem.??????

Any ideas? Most pin measurements seem normal but I can post if needed

See if you can narrow it down to. A certain area or channel and then resolder the joints around there. Could be as easy as that.

its only the normal channel. I tried prying on the pot a bit and the signal jumped back to normal. I've also resolded many connections. The only lead I have so far is that tampering with the pot seems to affect it. When I received the pot, one of the tabs was kinda gimped up and bent. I get a lot of noise in that channel.

Overall the gain comes on pretty early too- with a les paul in the low input I can hear gain start to come in at about 2 on the knob

note- my heater wires run at the bottom of the chassis (under the tubes) as opposed to over top of em like most builds. Will this cause much noise?

here are my pin measurements
V1- pin1-120 pin3-2.05 pin6-121.6 p8-2.05
V2 pin1-167 pin3-1.07 pin6-198 pin7-16 pin8-44
V3 pin3-356 pin4-329 pin8-21
V4 pin3-356 pin4-329 pin8-21

Could be the pot has a bad internal connection. Did you resolder the pot connection as well?

Voltages are close enough. That is not the problem.

I would swap the volume pots and see if the problem follows to the bright channel. ??? :damntech:

Good suggestion if you don't have a spare!

I know it's been a while but I just recently got around to ordering a new pot. That did the trick! All is well with the amp as of now. Normal channel sounds great and noise free! Thanks for the help, guys!
