I installed the 470k grid stopper on the phase inverter. Now its nice and smooth, not quite so ragged as before. Now the wait for the completed cab begins in earnest O_o

When you move the 1M to the other side of the .1uf DC blocking cap, the tone will improve again. At least that's what we noticed with the Tramp.

Cool, I'm going to be doing that tonight. I install a solder tab near V1 and put the resistors onto it.

I also ordered a set of Tung-Sol 6V6s and a NOS Jan 5Y3. I'll keep the tubes I have now for backup.

Notice a difference when you moved the resistor?

I haven't done that yet, I'm trying to get rid of some excess hiss in my friend's 18 watt :-(

The amp sounds pretty awesome as is though but I will move those resistors, hopefully this week sometime.

Seeing that the 1M resistors aren't doing much where they are at the moment, can I just install some new ones at V1 and leave the current ones where they are? Or should I snip them off?

It's best to snip them off then install new resistors on the tube socket.

OK I moved the 1M resistors onto the tube sockets. The amp is a wee bit brighter now but the biggest change is in the signal level (I think). The amp compress and sags like mad now if I have the volume at 9 or more with my Les Paul. I have to put the volume on around 5 (bright channel, high input) to get the amp at similar levels.

I guess it made a difference then :D
