All in all things went well on the build up until it came to testing and at this point I have 55VDC on V2 Pin 8...pin 7 20VDC...any idea what it could be ?? :bugeye:

You sure you have the correct 1.5K and 56K resistor on the board correct?

and the ground is connected to the other end of the 56K ressitor. When this happens, I confirm ALL my grounds are in place.

Ernie, have you got any readings if you trace further back, like at the junction point of the 1k5, 56k and 1M resistors?
Possibly trace back along that path.

I haven't built the Trinity Deluxe but just trying to help out.

I double checked the values of the resistors and made triple sure of their locations..

Voltage's +/- 10% or so is fine.
I wouldn't worry about the plate voltage. Try a few different 12AX7s and you'll probably see those plate voltages drop.

I can find any reference on the schem or layout to pin 7 having 0V.

What's your cathode, plate and screen voltage on your output tubes? (to see where they are idling, doubt they are too hot though.)

Cn you post all your voltages and maybe a clear picture of the build ? We didn't post a voltage for pin 7, V2.

Here's the reading I got last night..All tubes installed power and standy switches on..All voltages are listed are DC

V1

pin
1-142
3-2
6-145
7=0
8-2

V2

1-180
3-2
6-226
7-20 I shouldn't have any,
8-55 too low

V3 and 4

3-432
4-383
5-0
8-24

Ya no big deal guys....although the v2 pin 7 and 8 are not what they should be, don't worry about it we'll just let it slide..you guys have done way more than you needed to, especially with me purchasing these 3 amps elsewhere I don't expect you guys to go out of your way to resolve my issues...one way or another I'll figure it out one day

You were messy or used the coax in-correctly.
The shield shorted (probably melted) to the inner conductor. So your signal was getting shorted to ground, hence no so :D und.

Re-install the coax.

To ground out all the noise the shield pick up. Dont connect at both ends or youl make the noise worse.

Except for High B+ & therefore generally higher voltages, I think the amp is wired correctly.

Pin 7 voltages, we never published. Your value is OK and so is the PI value you think is too low.

It would be a good idea to check the power dissipation of the 6V6 though. It might be running a bit hot. 24V is a bit high.

How does it sound at this point in time?

Replace the 1M resistor and 22nF cap.
If the amp works and sounds good I would stop worrying about this pin 7.

130V is way too high for the mains. Get yourself a regulator. If you don't your going to be blowing up caps, resistors and tubes very soon.

Hum should be minimal. Is this your first tube amp?

I don't know who your outside of source of information is for the voltages and DMM advice, but your DMM is fine and isn't loading down anything or doing harm to this amp.

I noticed stephen revised the layout at the end of 2011 to resolve the issue I was having..thanks for all the help

It's possible the 2nd output jack on the Tweed was wired through the switch from the first, in fact a saftey measure to play only one speaker at time.
I think the current layout allows this though.

This is interesting. I was reading through the build manual and it says something like, "do go ahead and plug in another speaker". After the experience I had with the OTs on this amp, I'd be nervous about it.

Ùnder some DOs in the manual it says.

Add another speaker into the "external speaker" jack; a mismatched speaker load won't kill it, while an open circuit (disconnected speakers) may do so.

This is still a viable thing to do, but I will ammend the docs clarifiyng that long term , the impedances should be matched to the OT , in this case, 8 ohms.

We had one batch of OT that had some issues and we replaced any that failed. We then inproved the spec on our Tweed so it could take more punishment. So, I`m sure they can now take it!!

Agreed, Stephen. The new OT has been played hard and put away wet and it sounds as good as ever.
