I've been wanting to do this clip for you for a while, and finally got some time.

Signal path and settings are:

Gibson SG Classic (P90's) straight into linked channel of TRIWATT with 2x12 cab with Fane Crescendo replicas

TRIWATT settings:
- Normal Channel Vol 1:30
- Bright Channel Vol 5:00
- Overdrive - Off
- Bass - Off
- Treble - Max
- Middle - Max
- Presence - 12:00
- Master Vol - 11:30

Cab is distance mic'd using the on-board mics of the Boss BR-600 recorder set on the floor about 5 ft away from the cab!

http://www.trinityamps.com/clips/triwatt/Who_TRIWATT.mp3

cut short due to possible copyright issues, but you can definitely get the idea....

Awesome!Sounds darn near perfect!!! I didn't hear the guitar being smashed at the end of the clip though.......

I am finally realizing after all these years that "the guitar sound in my head" falls somewhere between this tone and the Mick Ronson guitar sound on the Ziggy Stardust era Bowie albums!

Thanks for posting this for me!

Just to give y'all an idea of the impact of 22 watts, my neighbour THREE houses down complimented me on my playing!!

Of course, you can turn down the Master Vol and keep it within your 4 walls, but I like to share the love!

It's amazing the countless internet forums debating how to get that tone with very specific Hiwatt specs, wrap around tailpieces on the SG, etc. it took me all of about 5 minutes to dial it in on the Triwatt!

I had a similar experience with my SG Special with P90 clones & Purple clones in my 2x12. The Triwat is such a fantastic sounding amp.

First off, great clip!

But secondly, what speakers were those replicas?

The speakers are "BBQ" FC12's. They will each handle 100W, so what you are hearing is the amp, not speaker distortion.

Thanks. Based on a thread I sort of hijacked in the Triwatt page, the FC12 is supposed to be a Crescendo clone. BBQ even says it on their site.

So far, perusing this site and some others, I haven't read anything yet that really claims otherwise (whereas I did read statements that say the BBQ Thames isn't that close to a Fane Purple and the Tonker isn't really a Fane clone of any kind anyway). Seems the FC12 is the way to go for any of us that feel like building a Gilmour-inspired Triwatt.

Yep. The FC12 is a Crescendo clone. Check out some of my Floyd sound clips elsewhere on the forum...

They seem to work mighty fine for Townshend's tone too though!

Thanks. The FC12 being a Crescendo clone seems to be the consensus.

FWIW, I emailed Eminence about the various offerings they have and which may or may not be Fane clones or at least Fane-like. Customer Service guy basically said that neither the Tonker nor the Tonkerlite were ever intended to be Fane clones. He did acknowledge that the Tonker may have some characteristics similar to some Fanes, but it wasn't really the intent. And the Tonkerlite being similar in some ways means it may have some "Fane-ness". Again, not by intent. The Lynch Super V12 was said to be intended to be a Fane clone (Crescendo, I think), but it's no longer in production.

FC12 seems the way to go for a Crescendo type thing. Not sure what to do for a Fane Purple type thing.

I do know that the clip sounds really good. The Floyd stuff too.
