I don't remember ever hearing any country picking clips from a Lightning. I was in a discussion today and I said I thought the Lightning would be good for country. I also said I thought the Lightning would sound very close to a Vox AC15. The other party does not agree :( Anyone have any country picking clips?

I don't have any right now, but my 2X10 is a prototype for the 6 time, Canadian Country Music, Guitarist of the Year. What do you think now? :D

He'll lay down some real pickin', and they'll be posted as soon as I can.

The build uses the DC30 output tranny for some extra cleanliness, and currently, uses the the 5U4GB. We haven't settled on the final configuration yet.

I think that are quite a few vox tones in the Lightning. I put a treble booster in front of my Trinity from time to time and it is pure Queen Tone.

Hey, I've used a homebrew Spitfire in my country band, of course I don't want a totally clean sound, though. Listen to Brad Paisley, early on he used an AC30, now he uses DrZ. Great tele tone, plenty twangy, but not squeaky clean. I'll bet the the 2x10 Trinity will be perfect for that sort of thing. CraigB

Brad's tone is amazing. I actually think he's fairly clean compared to someone like Keith Urban....who also used matchless amps for a while, until something bad happened and he moved to Bad Cat.

I look forward to hearing some country clips from the lightning....I'll be willing to bet that it can stay clean enough (but not too clean) to do the job.

Do you get CMT? They've been replaying a special he did for that channel called "Muddy Gras". There's lots of filler between the music, but the performances are killer. CraigB

Confident enough that I'm going to build a 2x10 of my own to use with my G&L ASATs.

A little country, a little blues.

I have a Dr Z (m@z 38) and it does the job, but it sure is big, heavy and LOUD.

I'm getting jazzed already thinking about it.

That opry performance is actually a repeat from a few months back.

His band sounded off that night.....they really sounded great for MuddiGras...

The highlight of that Opry performance was Brad jamming with the newly reformed Restless Heart. Those guys are like the def leppard of country music...amazing, syrupy background vocals and crystal clear production....

Update: The amp has left the shop. The 2X10 protoype passed 'country music muster' and has departed for an extended trial. This is good news! :D
