Thats what I wonder. I have been wanting the Lightning for a while and would like not have the two channels of the TC-15. I have made the Triwatt and TC-15 in the past. Which transformer set is the correct choice for a Trinity 15? Is there a chassis or a kit still in existence? Also how about adding reverb to a Spitfire? Has that happened?

ALright now I'll go look around in old forums.

Thanks

We're planning to start a single channel line of amps. 18 Watt Lite , Trinity 15, etc. Something that uses the same basic parts, but in a simpler configuration. For those who want less to build, fewer frills and a slightly lower cost (transformers & chassis making up the majority of the cost).
I aways believed that people would want the full deal because the cost would not be that much less for a simpler version, but, we've had enough inquiries to warrant this line up change.

So, the short answer is - they're coming in 2013. :happydance:

This is cool. Will the 15 be vtb master, or vt only? Will it be the EF86 or 12ax7 Preamp?

It could eventually be both but most of the requests were for V,T,B, MV, Cut.

That'll be great. I'm sure someone will always be modding etc. but that's very much what I think of when imagining the Lightning amps.

Summertime launch date?

Yet again, Stephen, I am intrigued. I have been pondering an "EF86 Lite" for some time. I LOVE that channel in the TC-15. Just sayin... :)

That's 3 votes for an EF86 Lite amp.

Would the lites be 2 controls (like Normal and EF86) or 5 controls (like TMB and TMC)?

That depends on whether is is Marshall or Vox heritage.

Some speculation follows:

The TC15 has Master Vol & Master Cut , Then EF86 channel 1 has Tone & volume, so theoretically that would be 4 while the TB version channel 2 would then have 5 knobs.

The 18 normal channel has 2 controls, but a Gain / Vol might be useful, that would make 3.

One input only (Hi), probably a progressive power switch like on the Triwatt.

Possibility of a VRM on the front panel perhaps..

Not to say a 2 knob lite is out of the question.

Maybe we should move this to a new topic & get some more input?

Yes

I vote for VRM to be standard. It could replace the power/standby switch plus it's the best solution for a MV (better than the TC-15s and better than the 18Ws so it's a win win).

FYI the regular 18W EF86 Lite has a Volume and a Tone control. Some people also like to add a "Contour" control with different cap values on a rotary switch.

But 18W amps don't normally have any master volume control. Just individual volume controls for the output level of each channel... :| VRM is still a great idea.

That sounds like a VOX based amp not a Marshall 18W based amp. Not that there is anything wrong with that? Is the schematic posted.

I like the VRM too, but it adds a degree of difficulty to the build. I suggest a progressive power switch like in the TRIWATT, and have the upgrade option of replacing and installing a VRM in that position and design the board with the DC blocking built in.

No, it's actually a regular Marshall 18W Lite from the PI onward. Just has the Voxish EF86 preamp stage. Not all the drawings are back online yet at 18watt.com, following the recent rebuild, but there is an official layout I could e-mail you. It's a killer amp.

Sounds perfect!

Yes, I tried to look over the drawings and couldn't. Please email to me if you can.

Stephen is the Lightning 15 on track to be a kit?

I'm also keen to see these single channel Lite versions of the kit lineup. I prefer to keep things simple and don't much like a Swiss Army Knife approach to my amps, in general I'm more attracted to an amp that does a great job with it's signature tone and doesn't have a heap of options. Some would call that a "One Trick Pony" amp so call me crazy but having a careful selection of those type of simple amps appeals to me, plus it's a good excuse to "need" more amps. :D

Ok, good input. Thanks . The "litening" 15 could be an option.

I need to find the iron for a t15, single channel.
I found a Classic Tone PT and Choke but no 4K OT.
MM has super spendy, and while I'm sure they are fine and all. 130$ for an OT
for a 15W amp is a bit high I think.
suggestions welcome for sure.

On eBay you can find a seller with a USA flag in the ad who makes transformers for lightning amps.
