Look at the cheap new solid state Vox amps - they look much nicer, and the cabinets are actually pretty decent for the price.

Hey Bear! Thanks! I'm familiar with the cheap Vox Amps. This was a customer's DOA GX110. It ships out today.

I was in GC today and spotted the ridiculously small Pathfinder 10 combo, with a 6.5" speaker. I didn't try it, but looked like a good candidate to pull the chasis and speaker and use it as a head for a single channel amp. The bonus is I think it looks more "vintage" then the Pathfinder 15 models. If they're going to make them so nice, I'm going to avoid the cabinetry and tolexing whenever they fit.

Can you belive Vox says " the warm British sounds you’ve come to expect from VOX" for a Solid State amp with a 6.5" speaker.

Have they no shame! LOL :D

I have a Pathfinder 15 R and for around $100 it's actually a pretty decent amp. I'd actually suggest these to beginners who didn't want to worry about tubes.

I was down the music shop yesterday and they have a Behringer package of a strat sytle guitar and amp for AUS$240 and can you belive the amp has a 12AX7 pre stage! How come this sort of gear wasn't available when I was starting out? The guitar is a bit light but the neck and action was fine, for a beginner I reckon this has got to be the best deal.
