Any rules out there that state that 4 power tubes must be lined up in a row?

I'm converting a Lightning over to 4xEL84. Not enough room, going to have to put them in a "box" configuration. Just curious if there are any unwanted effects from doing that. I don't really think so, but I never see it done that way.

The only thing I've ever heard is that they need to be 2.5" apart from the center.

i really don't have any idea if makes all that much difference. I would say at least 2 inches apart.

any takers?

many old bogen amps used a box style layout, also look athe sunn model T, these are in a slanted box type . I'm sure there are many others..

Just remember if you do this..will you have room for the transformers,or will they need to be repositioned.

I just did the same thing, but from scratch. The tubes are in a box pattern and so far no problems. I posted a First Impression in this forum and wondered how yours was?

I just read what you posted. I've been busy on other projects. I still have the stuff just sitting here. I hope to finish it this Christmas.
