Hey All,

I'm working on my Tramp build and am looking to verify that I'm wiring up the optional dual output transformer impedance mod correctly. I've attached a sketch I created of how I interpret the hookup should be for the wiring of this mod. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could verify that it's correct or not.

Thanks.

Currently working on a Tramp. Layout doc indicates (lower right of layout doc) indicates the brown wire connects to V2, pin 3, BUT the wiring diagram on pg.63/64 indicates brown wire from OT connects as you have it and another brown wire from the switch connects to V2, pin 3!! You may have saved me some major aggravation. :bugeye:

The brown to from OT to terminal strip and wire from DPDT switch to V2, pin 3 makes more sense any thing else. We need Coco to chime in!

Yes, would like to have some confirmation. Hopefully maybe Stephen can chime in as well. Don't know if it's just me but I'm finding it to be a bit confusing following the guide. I'm going to assume it's me.

Look at the diagram in build guide "Tone Tweaks" or a couple of pages before. (If you haven't already looked at it, of course). I rewired mine to follow that diagram.

Also, on V2 pin 1 is a ground connection and pin 2 is a heater connection(with pin 7 also). Recheck you heater connections. I should have looked at your diagram closer. So, move the brown wire from switch to pin 3. Hope that makes sense.

I hadn't looked at the Tone Tweaks as I was following the build guide thinking the OT mod would follow. Did you change the bias resistor value to 1K for the EL34? My heater wires are connected from pins 2 & 7 on the power tube. Pin 2 is wired to pins 4 & 5 of the pre-amp tube, pin 7 is wired to pin 9 of the pre-amp tube. Pin 1 of the power tube is wired to the power transformer grounding terminal strip middle lug. I see that the bias switch is wired differently than what I have in my sketch. One side of the switch is not connected at all. In one position both resistors are in play creating a parallel circuit, in the other position only the 750ohm resistor is in the circuit. My sketch is not correct for this part of the wiring. I'll have to change that. I guess I'll need to change the 560ohm resistor to a 1Kohm to make the bias correct for the EL34 as well as a KT66 and KT88. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Wiring for switch looks correct, except for wire going to to wrong pin on V2 (should be pin 3, you drew it on pin 2). Yes, I replaced the 560 5W with the 1K 5w. According to docs, it works with EL34, KT 66 and KT88. Your diagram made me rethink my wiring, I didn't think I needed to run the brown wire fron the OT to the terminal strip at top of V@. You made me realize that wouldn't work  and saved me a lot of grief. :D

Anyway, center wire on switch goes to pin 3 AND brown wire from OT goes to terminal strip at top of V2.

Excellent! Thanks for your input and glad that I was able to save you some aggravation. There's enough that can wrong as it is and it's always very helpful to have another set of eyes. Keep posting your build.

Cheers!

I've re-done the layout for the Dual OT Impedance Mod.

The layout drawing is correct.

Will check up on other docs mentioned.
