I'm about to order the Tramp and want to ask Stephen to build me one that can accept 6550 and KT90 tubes (aside from 6V6, 6L6, KT66, EL34, 6CA7, KT88 and KT77 that the stock build takes, as per the Tramp webpage).

For those of you who built or modified their amp to accept 6550 and KT90 tubes, do you feel that it was a compromise in terms of tone or amp performance vs. the stock 6V6, 6L6, EL34 tones? I'd like tube/tonal flexibility but not at the expense of good basic tone.

Appreciate any feedback based on experience or even theories of why this is a good/not good idea. Thanks!

Some info in this post on KT88 but nothing on your tubes. Tramps can be fine tuned for two tubes, or left stock for you to try out several types.
I saw the note to upsize the screen resistor for the bigger guys.
