For those who don't know me by my screen name, I'm the guy with the Motorhead shirt....

I wanted to solve this myself so I didn't want to ask for advice once I got home but I kept an eye on the forum and noticed I had missed a couple of the same connections as others. I also did a cleaner wiring job in some spots. The final fix was the solder joint near one of the diodes was loose (because I was afraid of overheating the diode, I hadn't applied enough heat to properly solder the connections going to that eyelet. Once I fixed that, it fired up. Each time I found a mistake I would try to fire it up and there were about 5 times when I did that and there was no sound. Finally I got it right.

The only thing I may change is that I slightly melted the outside of the big yellow cap exposing the foil or whatever is in it. It works as it is but I have a new old stock Cornell Dubilier that I could substitute it with. The NOS cap measures within the correct plus or minus 10% of .47 mfd and is good for 400 volts DC. What do you guys think about the cap change?

Nice! So you got sound now, and it's all good?

If the amp is working and sounds good no need to replace that cap. If you want to though, that cap you have sounds like a fine substitute.

Everything seems to be working perfectly. I have some vintage tubes that I'm going to put in it later tonight!

You might want to turn the VRM to about 7 or 8 for those
