Some might remember I fried the PT, while attempting to build my Triwatt.

Well, time have come to clean it up, and start again.
Since I finally got a new PT.

Right now I am stripping it down, and cleaning it a bit.

Stephen also send me a new impedance switch. However I need to enlarge the hole a bit.

Stephen, whats the size of the new switch, I need a drill.

Its actually hard to start from scratch. I have desoldered most except the hating wires, and the turret board.

Anyway, I will keep you posted.
And perhaps upload some pics.

Cheers from Bangkok.

I think larger than 3/8" but metric, 12mm probably. You could probably file it out to fit.

Thanks. I will try that.
Another question.
I am checking everything from scratch, desoldering most.
But I am having some doubt on which way to solder the caps.

My caps are not same as you have posted here
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3734
which are all sozo caps, so I am not sure.
I do assume though, that the right side, according to the text on the caps are +

Please see attached picture.

Another funny thing I just discovered, my turret board is different.
There is no eyelet for the 5th zener diode.
Any suggestions as to how to get about that.

Zener can "fly" between parts or even go on the bias switch (original design intent). Check on the layout where this could be possible. It is for the 6V6 setting only.

Only electrolytic caps are polarized with a + marking. Typically over 1uF values.
The coupling caps (.022, .047 etc. ) are Mallory, not Sozo, in your case and it doesn't matter which way they go in.

Ok, But how should I do it. Should I drill a hole, or what. I have a set of Genalex Gold Lion KT66 waiting.

Btw, checking old posts. Cant believe its already 8 years ago I started on this.
Pics are long gone. I will try to find them.

A couple of pics from yesterdays efforts.

I know it looks a bit shabby, but its been dormant for 8 years.
However, all solderings are solid, and all the caps still measures.
So it should work. Well see.

Should be able to finish it today.

Stephen, do you have a layout for the 240v PT. I am not sure how to solder it.

Almost done, just need to wire the PT.

Not the cleanest build, but everything checks out.
All the resistors, resists....

Some pics. Let me know if you spot something odd.

Has anybody here wired 240V PT.
Then I would really like to know you wired it.
Cause I am not sure.

Also, i should mention, i used layout rev 20, which is a bit different.
The OT wiring is different, so i hope i did it right.

Looks like you got the OT wiring right. But in an amp that uses negative feedback, there's always a chance the phase might be wrong and it will oscillate like crazy. If that's the case just reverse the blue and brown wires that connect to the anodes of the output tubes.

I have never built a Triwatt, let alone one wired for 240 volts, but looking at the schematic I'd say the 240-volt wiring for the PT primary would be:
Live (from power switch) to Black-Red, Neutral (from IEC connector) to Black, and connect Black-Blue and Black-Yellow together.

Thanks Mitch. I will try that. Stephen, cab you confirm the PT wiring.
I will wire it up and take a picture later.

The P T wiring is correct. Check on the power switch how the contact work. one side is power swithc, the other is standby. Do you jave the latest manual. I noticed it was not posted. I will fix that.

Ok, so heres the PT wiring.

Black-Blue and Black-Yellow, are tied together and soldered.

Black-red goes to the Power switch, upper left.
And Black goes to IEC Negative.

Stephen, please conform that this is right for 240V

Ok, so I measure on the powerswitch. When I measure red to red. There is contact only when power is on.
When I measure black-red to black, there is contact both in stand by and power on.
Is that right?

Ok, so I fired it up with my bulb device.
Nothing blew up, but before I could start measuring, I broke the second probe cable in a week, and I dont have a spare, haha.
Wont get a new one until tomorrow, so I will wait until then to test further.
But something is still wrong, as I couldn't get an even bias on the KT66 I have. The only thing I managed to probe before the cable broke.

Without tubes in, you should get a negative voltage on the bias feed to the power tubes. Remove the tubes and confirm you are getting that, and that it changes when you move the bias pot. Confirm the bias goes to the correct location on the board as well.
