Stephen/Phil...
Are there any plans for a Triwatt combo in the near future? It seems like if you kept with the Hiwatt combo style, it could be a relatively easy transition from head to combo since only the faceplate and rear panel silkscreen would be flipped. The chassis appears to remain the same, unlike the Bluesbreaker style combos where the tubes are relocated to the back for the combo. Example...

Any thoughts?

Have certainly considered this. Combo would need custom panels for front and to cover silkscreening, the rear. These are not cheap in low volumes so, there would need to be some higher level of interest there.

My Triwatt is a Combo based on a custom dimensioned 18 Watt Marshall Style Cabinet. (18" Control opening & 10 1/2" Deep for horizontally mounted KT66s - not tried yet). It's working out great even though is BB Style, & it doesn't get too hot.

That works too. I call that the Bluesbreaker style combo. Looking forward to some pics!

Currently the Fane AX12-150 is in the bottom cabinet, & a Weber_Axis Ceramic 12" is in the Triwatt's Cabinet.

Nice job. I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks too!

Sure looks nice!

Yes, by making the combo Bluesbreaker style, you do away with needing to mount the amp chassis upside down, like you would in a classic Hiwatt-style combo. Then you don't need the special upside down faceplate and rear panel either.

The Bluesbreaker style combo looks awesome (where did you get the cab btw?), but I'm not a big fan of horizontal burning tubes, especially forward facing and tucked underneath like that. Access to the tubes is difficult and it has to get toasty hot under there. I can also see some potential mechanical issues involved with transporting the combo right side up having the tubes cantilevered straight out like that. The pre's should be ok in the shields, but I wouldn't rely on spring retainers or bear claws to hold a tube in place when the sound man is driving the band truck
Maybe stick with transporting the amp on it's back in the trunk!

I got the Cabinet from Mather Cabinet. It's an 18 Watt Marshall Combo Cab with a few design mods. The speaker might sit a little lower and the dim's. are 24" W x 20" H x 10 1/2" D, with an 18" cutout for the control panel.

It stays pretty cool in there. A lot cooler than an Ampeg V4 I had in the 1980s. I have changed preamp tubes without much hassle. I do have to look at the pin orientation as you are pulling the tube out, before you install the next tube.

And that's exactly what the original JTM45 Bluesbreaker combo was designed for - transportation in Eric Clapton's trunk. :)
