I'm sure this is a subject over talked to death but I'm new to the tweed and attempting to tame some of the woofy nature while not losing the character that makes this amp so great. I've read about what Stephen did to tame a 5E3 for a guy named Percy on another thread and that looks interesting to me. He reduced the coupling caps between V1 and V2 to 0.022 uf, added the 470 ohm resistor to the PI, pin 7 and removed the 25 uf cap from the PI.

What about the coupling caps after the PI? I've seen 0.047uf and 0.1 uf used on various Fender amps, almost like they couldn't decide, lol. I have tried the 0.047 uf in mine and it helped some but I'll probably do the "Percy" mods today. But I might just use 0.047 uf for the caps after V1. I do want to avoid this being ice picky and think I need to use a different speaker. I just had the Jensen Mod 12-50 available and it can get harsh even with the woofy nauture of the 5e3. I'll probably order BBQ soon. Keep up the great work Stephen! Thanks.

Reduce the coupling caps between V1 and V2 to 0.022 uf - less bass
added the 470K ohm resistor to the PI, pin 7 - smoother distortion
removed the 25 uf cap from the PI. - less gain

you can reduce the post PI caps too if you want - .022 or .047
you can also reduce the bypass cap on V1 to 5-10 uf

you can get a speaker that holds together well in the bottom end(Tone Tubby comes to mind)

Just so I'm correct this would be the 25 uf cap that appears next to the 1.5 k ohm resistor correct?

That's the one, or drop it to 2uf
