Hi. Great build and thanks for the pics. Our builds are looking very similar. I'm just getting close to then end of my build (it's taken a long time) and your picture of the impedance switch was exactly the help I needed.

One question for you: it looks like there's a red and an orange wire coming off the tab on the impedance switch that goes to the speaker jacks. I only have a wire to the jacks, did you do something different or is it just the picture?

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks! Yah, it's just the picture - the orange wire is going to the crunch/munch switch - or as I like to call it - the Vox or Matchless switch. The red wire is on the tab to the jacks. Not sure if you've seen the build thread by cigarman, but I know I wouldn't have even completed this successfully without his photos. kurtlives has a really smooth build as well, but it's a different board.

Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it. That`s what I thought but found myself second guessing. I did indeed use cigarman`s thread extensively. I have all his pictures in a file that I keep open. It`s been a massive help to me as well.

Another question for you if that`s okay (or anyone who can answer). What do you think is the best technique for soldering to the small upright posts on the master volume pot? It`s my next task and looks a little tricky.

And I was about to ask if you were Canadian (because of the moose) but saw your US cash on the desk. That's a great (and very Canadian) picture.

I don't remember anything particularly tricky with that particular solder. As with everything, a matter of heat and dwell time. I try to be extra careful with switches and pots. My soldering iron has a variable watts knob which is really handy, but you can simulate that just in your technique. I guess that's probably pretty common knowledge around here.
I'm in AK, so we're like 1/2 Canadian. 8)

I always wrap some wire around a lug or post to give it some mechanical strength as well, then I solder it in place. Maybe Do the work outside the amp before you install the switch if you want good access to it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the tips. Will tackle it this weekend. May even have an almost finished amp by Sunday. Can't wait.

2x6L6 - if you have a moose in your yard, you're definitely part Canadian.

Stephen - I don't have a facebook account (I know, pretty retro) but I'll see what I can do. I'll likely throw something up on the gear page and TDPRI when I'm done. I'll send the links once I post them.

Hey, thanks for the build details and great pictures! I found Trinity amps 2 days ago and joined the forum yesterday.

Everybody keeps referencing a very helpful thread by "Cigarman" that I just can't seem to find on my own. Can someone point me in the right direction to find it? Sorry for the newbie question, but I promise I have looked on my own and everyone seems helpful here. Thanks in advance.

I think Stephen told me he had already sold amps in AK.

What a great idea using the old styrofoam!
